Svava Björnsdottir

The sculptures of the artist from Reykjavik appear massive, angular and heavy in their materiality, but they are actually very easy as the artist pours her sculptures of cellulose pulp in a special technique. Hanging as a wall installation, the objects conquer the space in a self-evident manner. They seem to float and radiate a delicate elegance. The work is at the border between sculpture, panel painting and relief. Svava Björnsdóttir studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
