In his cycle “The Inventor's House” Herbert Nauderer refers to events in German history, current events, trauma and conspiracy theories, but also to documents from a private, fictionalized and enigmatic biography of the “inventor”.
The closer we get to this "inventor", the more he eludes a clear explanation and throws the viewer back on himself. We are confronted with existential questions.
Where do people find orientation these days? Is science helping or is it a threat? Is the “inventor” a creator in the religious sense? An artist? A reflection of ourselves? Or does it stand for a dark, incomprehensible power that threatens us.
The deeper the viewer immerses himself in this world, the more he is thrown back on questions of being human. "S E K T O R 29" represents a part of this cosmos, consisting of drawings, photo montages, documents, objects and video works and referring to an imaginary expedition.
